Razer unveils Project Ariana, a 4K projector that blurs the line between your screen and living room - eppersonyebere
Razer's crazy unused triple-display laptop might drive center stage this year, but the company also trotted out a more realistic concept during CES, too—a 4K projector. Yes, Razer is making a projector.
Okay, not just a projector. In fact, Project Ariana is suspiciously similar to Microsoft's perhaps-uninhabited IllumiRoom concept from a few years back. IllumiRoom utilized the Kinect's depth-sensing capabilities to mapping the area around your TV, and then took that information and "extended" your sort into the elbow room itself. Here's a demo from 2013:
IllumiRoom could also raise games in subtler slipway. The notable deterrent example was snow descending around the edges of the room while racing on a snowy track, and thus adding a bit more atmosphere to the elbow room you were in.
Project Ariana does the same, albeit without the each-in-one gizmo of the Kinect. Instead Razer uses a pair of 3D depth-sensing cameras—perhaps similar to the RealSense cameras used in its Stargazer webcam—to map proscribed a room and whatsoever furniture in it.
Ariana can then project a diverseness of information, depending along what game developers choose to go through. No thorny announcements yet happening what those third-party companies have planned, but it's an important step. Til now, all of these inflammation solutions—be it Logitech's, Barbary pirate's, Razer's, et al—throw functioned primarily as first-party value-adds.
